Kris Cutlery 26A Custom Katana
customized Kris Cutlery 26a katana. There are a few small surface rust spots on the blade and some scratches(please see pics) from cutting but this was a dedicated cutter and was used to cut, so… ;)
Everything else is in great to new condition and it’s ready to keep on cutting.
The tsuka has been re-profiled to a slimmer more comfortable shape and measures in at 10 ½”.
It received new premium samegawa panels lacquered in a matte black. The steel fuchi is in higo style and the kashira is hand-cut and polished buffalo horn. The Menuki are handmade out of copper and feature a stylized snakeskin pattern. The tsuka is wrapped in hineri-maki style with imported Japanese dark blue silk and given a lacquer treatment for added strength and durability. There is a single susudake mekugi.
The seppa are handmade from copper with a decorative filed edge and a authentic Japanese Rokusho patina was applied.
The tsuba is the original KC round iron design featuring two udeneki on the mune side. It was given a forced rust patina in a dark brown. The habaki is also original and made of iron with a blued patina.
the saya was re-profiled and is much slimmer than the bulky stock shape and features a full real snakeskin wrap with many layers of Japanese clear lacquer over it. The koiguchi, kurikata, kaeshizuno and kojiri are all made of horn and it’s wrapped in a high quality black synthetic silk sageo.
The 26”(27” with habaki) blade is forged from Kris Cutlery’s famed differentially heated 5160 spring steel featuring a suguha hamon, niku, geometric yokote, chu-kissaki and mitsu-mune. These blades are not being sold anymore and are becoming very difficult to find second hand.
This customized one of a kind katana is a great cutter capable of light to heavy targets and is also very fast and agile due to its shorter blade size. The sword weighs in at 2 lbs. 3 oz. without the saya.
